A few years ago no one had heard of BSS Gas. Since the company was started in September 2004 it has grown into a thriving business carrying out central heating installations and gas maintenance works for big clients like British Gas, and many private clients also, making its mark on the industry in the Lothians and further afield.
Such is the growth that it has now facilitated the move of BSS Gas and its sister company, Building Insulation Services, to the former Edinburgh Crystal visitors centre in Penicuik bringing 76 jobs to the area.
The company are currently involved in installing central heating and insulation works on the Scottish Executive’s “Central Heating” and “Warm Deal” Programmes covering the Lothians, Borders, Fife, and Glasgow.
The success of these companies is largely due to the policy of employing highly skilled tradesmen, resulting in a growing reputation for quality of service. The companies have won major and prestigious contracts, such as with British Gas, for this reason, and also for a professionalism which is increasingly hard to find in these industries.
BSS Gas was assisted through the Midlothian Business Development Fund with grant support in its early days and maintains a close relationship with the Business Environmental Partnership as it tries to promote environmentally friendly heating and insulation solutions.
